10/13/2008 10:11:00 AM
SummaCare, Inc. will once again offer three Medicare Advantage plans – Platinum, Gold Plus and Silver Plus – in 2009. Consistent with past years, all three options will provide coverage for care received through any Medicare-approved doctor or hospital in the U.S.
Introduced in 2007, the Platinum plan offers members a $0 deductible, $0 primary care and specialist visits, $0 for hospital stays and $0 for skilled nursing facilities days 1 – 100. Members pay a low monthly premium of $175, and unlike Medicare Supplement plans that offer medical coverage only, SummaCare’s Platinum plan also covers the expense of costly prescription drugs.
“We have worked closely with our members to understand their needs and to make Medicare simple,” said SummaCare President Marty Hauser. “By providing three separate and distinct options for our members, we are ensuring that they have access to comprehensive and affordable coverage either at home or when traveling across the United States.”
SummaCare also will continue to offer its Silver Plus and Gold Plus plans, with 2009 monthly premiums set at $0 and $75 respectively. The Gold Plus and Silver Plus plans include both medical and pharmacy coverage, a $0 co-pay for visits to SummaCare primary care physicians and unlimited generic drug coverage, with the cost of generic drug co-pays remaining at $3.
In 2007, SummaCare was recognized for having outstanding overall customer satisfaction in the Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Survey (CAHPS) results. The customer satisfaction survey, compiled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), recognized SummaCare for earning 91 percent overall customer satisfaction with its Medicare offerings.
