SummaCare Expands Medicare Provider Network to Include Eight New Counties in 2009

In preparation for the upcoming Medicare open enrollment period, SummaCare, Inc. has added eight new counties and six new hospitals to its Medicare Advantage network of providers. In total, the network will include 30 hospitals and 3,500 physicians across 18 counties beginning on Jan. 1, 2009.

New to the network are University Hospitals Conneaut Medical Center and University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center in Ashtabula County;  Salem Community Hospital in Columbiana County; University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Geauga County; Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Huron County; and Memorial Hospital in Sandusky County. SummaCare also will expand into Erie, Lake and Tuscarawas Counties, and continues to finalize provider contracts in those areas. In addition, SummaCare has added Southwest General Health Center to its existing list of providers in Cuyahoga County.

In 2007, SummaCare was recognized for having outstanding overall customer satisfaction in the Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan Consumer Assessment of Health Plans Survey (CAHPS) results. The customer satisfaction survey, compiled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), recognized SummaCare for earning 91 percent overall customer satisfaction with its Medicare offerings.

SummaCare is licensed to sell Medicare Advantage plans in Summit, Stark, Cuyahoga, Portage, Medina, Lorain, Mahoning, Trumbull, Wayne, Carroll, Erie, Huron, Geauga, Lake, Ashtabula, Columbiana, Sandusky and Tuscarawas counties.  Additional information about the plans and expanded provider network can be obtained by calling 888-464-8440.
