SummaCare Recognized for Ohio's Top Commercial and Medicare Plans

U.S. News & World Report/National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has recognized SummaCare as the highest ranked plan in Ohio for both its Medicare and Commercial products in its survey of “America’s Best Health Plans 2008.” This is the fourth consecutive year that the Akron-based health plan has received recognition, earning 30th in the nation for its Medicare plans and 61st for its commercial plans.

• The rankings are based on several reporting categories and measures, including:
• overall consumer experience, including satisfaction with plan physicians and health plan services;
• preventative services, such as childhood and adolescent immunizations and prenatal care;
• how well the health plan takes care of people with existing health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease; and
• NCQA accreditation scores.

The complete list of America’s Best Health Plans will appear in the Nov. 17 issue of U.S. News & World Report and will be available on newsstands on Nov. 10. The rankings also will be accessible at www.usnews.com/healthplans on Nov. 7.
