SummaCare’s PPO plan is Ohio’s only PPO plan rated “Excellent”
Akron, Ohio, March 8, 2010--SummaCare has received three-year "Excellent" Accreditation status in the Health Plan category for all lines of business from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality.
SummaCare was rated “Excellent” in the following plans:
- Commercial HMO/POS combined
- Commercial PPO
- Medicare HMO/POS combined
SummaCare’s Commercial PPO plan is Ohio’s only PPO plan to achieve the “Excellent” distinction.
“SummaCare was founded on the principle that we’re here to provide the best products and services for our members,” said SummaCare President Marty Hauser. “We are proud of our “Excellent” Accreditation status because it demonstrates our employees’ commitment and dedication to making SummaCare one of the nation’s leading health plans.”
The triennial accreditation survey evaluates the systems and processes that make up a health plan, as well as the actual results the plan achieves in key aspects of care, service and efficiency. The survey process involves both onsite and offsite evaluations led by a survey team of doctors and managed care experts.
