SummaCare Expands Medicare Advantage Offerings to Five Products and Launches New Prescription Drug Plan

Akron, Ohio, Oct. 1, 2010 – SummaCare, Inc. is set to offer something for everyone with the expansion of its 2011 Medicare Advantage (MA) offerings to five plans. In addition, the Akron-based insurance company is offering a prescription drug plan (PDP) for the first time. 

 

We have worked closely with our members to understand their needs, to make Medicare simple and to offer something for everyone” said Jim Loveless, vice president for Medicare and individual products.  “By providing multiple options for our members, including the new prescription drug plan, we are ensuring that they have access to comprehensive and affordable coverage and the peace of mind to know their individual needs will be met.

 

Medicare Advantage

SummaCare will continue to offer its Silver, Gold and Platinum plans, with 2011 monthly premiums ranging from $30 to 278. All three plans include both medical and pharmacy coverage, a $0 co-pay for visits to SummaCare primary care physicians, unlimited generic drug coverage - with the cost of generic drug co-pays at $4 and comprehensive brand name drug coverage.

 

SummaCare also will continue offering its Classic plan, which provides medical-only coverage. It includes a $0 monthly premium, a $0 deductible, a $0 co-pay for visits to SummaCare primary care physicians.

 

New in 2011, SummaCare is offering its Core plan. It includes a $0 monthly premium, a $0 deductible, a $0 co-pay for visits to SummaCare primary care physicians and comprehensive generic and brand name drug coverage. Core is an HMO-only product, so members will not have out-of-network coverage except in emergency situations.    

 

Prescription Drug Plan

New in 2011, SummaCare is offering two PDP plans, Scripts 1 and Scripts 2. Unlike MA plans, the PDP plans only provide drug coverage to members. Monthly premiums for the PDP plans are $42.80 and $72.80 respectively. Both plans offer $3 generic drug coverage and comprehensive brand name drug coverage.
