NCQA Recognizes Akron-Based Health Plan

Akron, Ohio, Nov. 23, 2010 – SummaCare was recognized as the highest-ranked plan in Ohio for its Medicare products by the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA) Medicare Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Akron-based health plan has received recognition for these high rankings, earning 31st in the nation for its Medicare products.*

The rankings are based on several reporting categories and measures, including:

  • overall consumer experience, including satisfaction with plan physicians and health plan services;
  • preventative services, such as childhood and adolescent immunizations and prenatal care;
  • how well the health plan takes care of people with existing health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease; and
  • NCQA accreditation scores.

    “This recognition is the result of our commitment to provide our members with the best products and services available,” said SummaCare President Marty Hauser. “We graciously accept this award and we will continue to provide the excellent service our customers have come to expect from our organization.”
