Each year the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) evaluate Medicare Advantage plans on a 5-star scale. The annual quality ratings help consumers determine how well a health plan is performing in areas such as:

Because SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plans have been awarded a 5-star rating for 2023, eligible shoppers may switch to a SummaCare Medicare Advantage plan anytime between December 8, 2022 and November 30, 2023.
Individuals who are still on Original Medicare may utilize the 5-Star Special Enrollment period to switch to a Medicare Advantage plan any time during the designated enrollment period. Enrollment is possible even if eligible shoppers chose to not select a Medicare Advantage plan during the Annual Enrollment Period or Open Enrollment Period.
Medicare shoppers are only able to utilize a 5-Star Special Enrollment Period once during a plan year.
Yes. Members who are already enrolled in a SummaCare Medicare Advantage plan can utilize the SEP to switch to another SummaCare plan. For instance, members interested in making a plan change could switch from the Topaz (HMO) plan to the Jade (HMO) plan during the 5-Star SEP.
