10/11/2017 8:00:00 AM

AKRON, Ohio, October 11, 2017 – SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plan has been recognized with a 4.5‐Star (out of 5) overall rating for 2018 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The new rating is an increase from SummaCare’s 4‐Star rating in 2017 and underscores the company’s commitment to providing quality products and services to its Medicare members.

The annual quality ratings help consumers determine how well a health plan is performing in areas such as:

  • How satisfied members are with the health plan
  • How effective the health plan assists its providers in prevention and detection of illnesses
  • How well the health plan maintains the overall well‐being of its members
  • How quickly the health plan responds to the members’ needs in regard to receiving care and addressing members’ concerns, including appeals

“We are proud to have our Medicare rating go up from a 4‐Star Rating for 2017 to a 4.5‐ Star Rating for 2018. This is a result of a great deal of hard work and dedication from everyone across the organization,” said Dr. Charles A. Zonfa, SummaCare chief medical officer & vice president, network development and contracting. “Star ratings are important to us and just as important to consumers, especially at this time of year when many people are choosing their Medicare Advantage plans for 2018.”
