Learn how employee wellness programs can improve the overall health and wellbeing of your workforce

Wellness programs, which were once considered a perk rather than a customary part of an employee’s benefit package, have surged in popularity because research shows they work. At their core, these programs offer employees education, tools and support to help them adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors to increase their quality of life, manage chronic conditions and reduce stress. In addition to physical illnesses, everyday life stressors can negatively impact a person’s mental and emotional health which may cause them to be distracted and less productive at work.

As a SummaCare employer group, companies of all sizes can enjoy a robust wellness experience featuring WebMD® Health Manager, an online platform that helps motivate members to set goals and track their progress. Members will have access to health risk appraisals, podcasts, webinars, recipe videos, financial wellness programs, tracker tools, and the WebMD® app. These tools and resources can help employees to take positive steps toward improved well-being and reduced health risks.

In addition to WebMD® Health Manager, fully insured and MEWA groups of all size have access to:

  • Teladoc®, a telehealth service, which provides 24/7 access to board-certified physicians via the internet, phone or Teladoc app.
  • SummaCare 24-Hour Nurse Line to answer questions, offer support and help make decisions about any non-emergency health situation.
  • Discounted gym memberships, group fitness on demand, vitamins and supplements, weight loss programs, discounted fitness trackers and home exercise equipment through GlobalFit.
  • Vision discounts through EyeMed (exam, glasses, contact lenses and laser vision correction) at participating EyeMed Advantage network provider locations.
  • One-on-one, telephone-based, Health Coaching to help with lifestyle modifications to help prevent future diagnosis of chronic diseases and to identify at-risk behaviors and provide suggestions to improve wellness.
  • Registered nurses who oversee the care and condition management of patients with chronic conditions like asthma, depression, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, COPD and chronic kidney disease.
  • Our DiabetesCare program offers medical nutrition therapy and diabetes education classes at any in-network provider. Online resources through WebMD® include blood sugar trackers, diabetic assessments and health education. Members can also receive free diabetic supplies including lancets, meters and strips when ordered through HOMELINK and their preferred brands.
  • For members who are ready to quit smoking, we offer a free QuitCare counseling program. Members may also choose to receive up to eight weeks’ worth of free nicotine replacement therapy.
  • Monthly electronic newsletters titled Health Notes eNews containing handouts about monthly health topics, fitness tips, health tips and recipes are sent directly to employer contacts (not the employees).
  • Four virtual or recorded Lunch and Learns per year for your employees. Topics available for review.

    We also provide reminders, mailed to members, to schedule check-ups for routine care as well as check-ups recommended if members have certain health conditions.
