It’s no secret that healthcare needs aren’t one size fits all, so healthcare plans shouldn’t be either. What’s vital to one person may not be a priority for another. That’s why there are so many health insurance products available for employers to choose from. SummaCare has been in business in the Akron and surrounding communities for 30 years. We know that health insurance coverage can be a deciding factor for prospective employees which is why MEWA offers 18 benefit plans, including PPO and HSA-compatible plans featuring pharmacy coverage and four SummaCare networks.
When you choose SummaCare, you are working with a local company committed to high-quality, low-cost, community-focused health plans that maximize service with our integrated health system and choice to our providers, members and employers. We’re committed to a thorough and effective quality management program to enhance our members’ experiences as well as promote preventive health and wellness through targeted interventions like care and condition management and health coaching.
Measurable Performance Outcomes
SummaCare uses national performance improvement tools to guide our member engagement in preventive health and condition management programs. We also use surveys to evaluate our members’ satisfaction with our network of providers. We have established value based agreements with providers in our network to ensure our members are receiving the highest quality care available.
National Accreditation
SummaCare has been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) since 2001. The NCQA seal is a widely recognized symbol of quality. Organizations must first pass a rigorous, comprehensive review and annually report on their performance. For consumers and employers, the seal is a reliable indicator that an organization is well-managed and delivers high quality care and service. SummaCare’s Commercial PPO plan is in NCQA's Top Three PPO Plans in Ohio for 2022.
Credentialed Providers and Facilities
Through the process of "credentialing," all new physicians and practitioners in the SummaCare network are reviewed to assure their professional status complies with our standards. After a physician or practitioner has been credentialed, his or her professional status is re-verified every three years. We also credential the facilities our members use such as hospitals, skilled nursing facilities and free-standing surgery centers.
Easy Online Access for Both Employers and Members
