When looking at healthcare plans for your small business, you need to look at more than just the bottom line. While costs are one of the biggest factors when choosing a healthcare insurance plan, allowing employees a choice of facilities and providers should also be a top priority because using in-network providers and facilities minimizes their out-of-pocket costs. Since your employees likely live in different communities, selecting a plan that offers access to care anywhere in NE Ohio should also be something you consider.
SummaCare does just that through our 14 PPO benefit plans, including HSA-compatible health plans featuring comprehensive medical and pharmacy benefits with access to hospitals across the region.
Our Hospital and Provider Networks
Through the Preferred Choice Network, members have access to 20 participating hospitals and 8,000 providers as well as a high quality, cost-competitive network that includes Summa Health, Cleveland Clinic (including Cleveland Clinic Akron General), Akron Children’s Hospital and Wooster Community Hospital.
Our SCSelect Network features 51 hospitals and 16,000 providers across a specialized network that includes Summa Health, Aultman Hospital, Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center, Akron Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital and University Hospitals.
Our most comprehensive plan, SCPremier, features a broad network of 61 hospitals and 22,000 providers including Summa Health, Aultman Hospital, Crystal Clinic Orthopedic Center, Akron Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, University Hospitals and Cleveland Clinic (including Cleveland Clinic Akron General).
All three networks also offer access to a national network for services received outside of a member’s primary service area. In addition to a variety of providers and facilities, SummaCare offers ancillary benefit plans that most people want like dental, vision and life insurance at an additional cost.
Each plan features comprehensive prescription benefits with varying copays and coinsurance depending on the plan you choose. We offer a large pharmacy network that includes, Acme, CVS, Discount Drug Mart, Giant Eagle, Marc’s, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Buehler’s and several independent pharmacies located throughout the service area.
Another benefit to our consumer-directed options includes Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to give your employees more control over their healthcare costs as well as tax savings on money allocated for medical expenses.
In order to be eligible to participate in one of our MEWA plans, your small business must be a member of the Greater Akron Chamber or one of its affiliate chambers, or join at time of enrollment and must be within the 21-county service area, which includes Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio.
