Chamber Health Benefits Plan

SummaCare and the Greater Akron Chamber have partnered to offer Northeast Ohio small businesses a multiple employer welfare arrangement (MEWA).

This self-funded health benefits option allows employers with 50 employees or fewer to join together to share in the healthcare costs of their employees. Being part of a larger, self-funded pool, employers can receive potential savings and have financial protection against unexpected claims costs.

Employers choose the right option for their employees by selecting among 18 benefit plans, including PPO and HSA-compatible plans featuring pharmacy coverage and four SummaCare networks, including The Preferred Choice Network which is a high quality, cost-competitive network comprised of Summa Health, Cleveland Clinic, including Cleveland Clinic Akron General, and Akron Children’s Hospital.

In order to be eligible for membership, you must be a member of the Greater Akron Chamber or join at time of enrollment. Your company must be within the 21-county service area, which includes Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Sandusky, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties in Ohio.

Condition Management Programs

SummaCare's Condition Management programs provide specialized services to members who have been diagnosed with conditions such as asthma, depression, diabetes, heart failure and high-risk pregnancy.

Wellness Services

Our wellness services help identify at-risk members and possible interventions, encouraging lifestyle changes aimed at reducing risk. These services include: 

  • Health Manager powered by WebMD®, providing exclusive access to WebMD’s Health Manager online tool.
  • SummaCare's 24-Hour Nurse Line where experienced registered nurses have accurate, up-to-date information about almost any health topic. A nurse can answer questions, offer support and help make decisions about any non-emergency health situation.
  • QuitCare, a program helping members stop smoking for good.
  • Preventive Health Reminders for preventive services and other recommended care for common conditions and preventive screenings.
  • Discounts on gym memberships, vitamins/supplements, weight loss programs, Fitness On Demand and more through HUSK.
  • Health Coaching, a one-on-one telephonic service used to help with lifestyle modifications to prevent future diagnosis of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and heart disease.
  • Free Flu Shots

SummaCare's member portal allows today’s workforce 24/7 access to information. Our member portal gives your employees the self-service tools they need to manage their member account, including:

  • Reviewing benefit information
  • Changing an address
  • Requesting a new ID card
  • Searching for a provider
  • Signing up for paperless EOB statements
  • Viewing eligibility status and pharmacy information

 

Pharmacy & Drug Benefits

SummaCare features a wide range of pharmacy riders with varying copay and coinsurance options.

All SummaCare plans include comprehensive prescription drug benefits, but prescription drug coverage varies by the plan in which the member is enrolled.
