4-5 Star Rating for 2019

SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage Plan Maintains 4.5-Star Rating by CMS

AKRON, Ohio, October 11, 2018 – SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plan has again been recognized with a 4.5-Star (out of 5) overall rating for 2019 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. This is the second straight year SummaCare has attained a 4.5-Star rating and underscores the company’s commitment to providing quality products and services to its Medicare members.

The annual quality ratings help consumers determine how well a health plan is performing in areas such as:

  • How satisfied members are with the health plan
  • How effective the health plan assists its providers in prevention and detection of illnesses
  • How well the health plan maintains the overall well‐being of its members
  • How quickly the health plan responds to the members’ needs in regard to receiving care and addressing members’ concerns, including appeals

SummaCare Medicare has been in northeast Ohio since 1996 and has more than 24,000 members in northern Ohio. SummaCare’s Medicare Advantage plans have an extensive network of more than11,000 providers and over 64 hospitals.

SummaCare is an HMO and HMO-POS plan with a Medicare contract.  Enrollment in SummaCare depends on upon contract renewal. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. From October 1 through March 31, a representative will be available to take your call from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., seven days a week.  From April 1 through September 30, a representative will be available to take your call from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
